My Lab.

The lab started with an HP Z640 workstation — a dual-socket beast found on eBay for around $600. What looked like a gamble turned into the foundation of AntaeusLAB and one of the most valuable learning investments ever made.

The gaming laptop got sold to fund it. Trading entertainment for education is a decision that pays dividends. You don't build a home lab to play games — you build it to understand systems at a depth that certifications alone can't touch.

Company support made the investment easier to justify. But the learning that came from setting up Proxmox from scratch, designing VLANs, configuring firewall rules, and breaking things on purpose — that's knowledge that sticks. Real learning happens in the lab.

Start small. Start somewhere. A $600 eBay machine is all it takes to begin building something real.
